Best Scented Christmas Candles

Best Scented Christmas CandlesIt is very important that you need to know about my finds for the best scented Christmas candles. You would have never thought about the dangers from lighting them. I don’t mean the fire hazards. It is something else. Just continue reading. . . It’s the time of the year when people are loving the smell of candles. They smell so good that you want to eat it. I love the vanilla smell. Their fragrance is very soothing and excellent for overcoming the stress that holiday brings. A few years ago, I was enjoying the sweet smell of one of my own candles. One cold December day, I was lighting one with a mulberry fragrance in my kitchen for several hours. Just before the midday, I was wondering why the inside of my drinking cup had this black coating. Then I happened to touch my nose and I noticed my fingertips had a black smear. So I threw away my drinking cup. I got another one and I made sure that it was totally clean inside. After 20 minutes, I checked my cup and I found that black coating again inside. I guessed that it could possibly be from the soot― but the direction of the soot was going up to the ceiling. If it went up, then how did my cup get that black coating? So after all these years, it’s still mystery to me, and I’ve been wondering what had happened and where that black coating came from. I just found something very interesting today while I was searching about the benefits of burning these lights at home. Candles are made from paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is a by-product of petroleum. When you burn it, it releases toxins. These toxins are like fumes that came out from your car. And we know, fumes are dangerous to your lungs. This solves the mystery of that black coating in my drinking cup and also in my nose. So that day my kitchen was filled with the paraffin soot and I was breathing those toxic fumes. Ugh. But we still love the sweet smell of candles, right? They give our home that very inviting and cozy feeling, and they set that holiday mood that we enjoy. Does this mean we can’t enjoy them anymore? Of course not! Thankfully, there are alternatives. And we just need to be smart because these other options do find their way to the store shelves. Well, when you buy them, remember check the labels. Do you know what to look for? See, if the label specifies that they are made from soy wax, vegetable wax, or bees wax. They are the non-toxic ones to light at home. Make sure that it does not contain anything that says “blend” because it could contain paraffin. And don’t believe a label that says “wax from natural source.” Manufacturers can be very sneaky in their products’ description so that they can market them with profits. Also, make sure that the label mentions that the wick is lead free. If you have one at home right now, peel the wick apart. If you see metal or a wire, don’t light it. If you haven’t burned the wick yet, you can rub the wick into a clean piece of paper. If you see a gray mark on the paper, like a pencil, that means the wick has lead in it. Don’t use it. To prolong the life of your light, trim the wick after each burn. Leave about 1/8 of an inch above the wax. So, be safe and be responsible in lighting them.

The items in my list below are lead-free, paraffin-free and are made from soy; and also, one of them is from a vegetable wax source. And of course, they have also essential oils for fragrances that are very beneficial for you while celebrating the holiday season. My selections aren’t dollar store value, but you will have peace of mind. When the wax is made of soy― it burns cleaner and longer.
